Seven new cases of the covid-19 have been confirmed in Sunderland as of March 24th, increasing the city’s total to 20 in what has been the largest increase so far. The announcement comes amid the implementation of a national lockdown by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, urging the public to stay at home except for essential trips.

Yesterday Sunderland’s death from the virus was also confirmed at the city’s royal hospital, the patient being described as “elderly”.
